Senior Advisor Karl Falkenberg‘s report ‘Sustainability Now! A European vision for Sustainability provides an accurate analysis of the current European sustainability model, and how it fails to meet its environmental objectives. It points out the failure of many systems within the EU, especially the failure to provide urban infrastructure that would enable citizens to live more sustainably. ‘Transforming our world’ presents a solution for delivering the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, calling for a European Sustainable Development Strategy and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, which are based on a new governance approach using transparency and meaningful stakeholder participation. In doing so, Falkenberg echoes the recommendations made by civil society organisations that ‘the usual recipes are not working any more.’
