On December 8th, Council adopted a new directive designed to combat the health risks and environmental impacts of air pollution. Five pollutants are included and for each year, from 2020 to 2029 there is a ceiling proposed on emissions of each pollutant. Then, as the next part of the program, newer and stricter rules will enter into force in 2030. The goal is for the directive to enter force in 2016. According to the Slovakian Presidency. “These new rules will save lives and improve the health of EU citizens.”
