Silvestre García de Jalón
Postdoc, Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) & INHERIT Study Lead
Silvestre García de Jalón works as a postdoc in the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). In the Inherit project, Silvestre’s research is mainly focused on the economic evaluation of the Inherit pilots. He holds a PhD in Agricultural and Natural Resources Economics from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) since October 2014, having obtained the UPM Extraordinary Award of Doctoral Thesis. Silvestre acquired a BSc on Forestry Engineering (2008), a BSc on Agricultural Engineering (2011) and a MSc on Agricultural and Natural Resources (2012) in the UPM. His research focuses on modelling the interactions among economic, social and environmental factors in order to assess the impact of interventions on land use changes. Silvestre has worked as a Postdoc at Purdue University in the United States and at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom. Silvestre has participated in various research projects such as ANIMALCHANGE (“An Integration of Mitigation and Adaptation Options for Sustainable Livestock Production under Climate Change”) or AGFORWARD (“AGroFORestry that Will Advance Rural Development”) funded by the 7th Framework Program of the European Commission (EC), “Incorporating Social Dimensions into the Modelling of Adoption of Conservation Practices in the Mississippi River Basin” funded by the United States Geological Survey and “Assessment of the Climate Change Vulnerability in Doñana Wetlands” funded by the Fundación Biodiversidad.
