Univerzita Karlova v Praze (Charles University in Prague, CUNI) was founded in 1348 by Charles IV of Luxembourg and the Charles University Environment Center was founded in 1992 with a focus on socio-economic environmental research. CUNI provides advisory and expert support in the area of environment and sustainable development to the staff and students of the University as well as to the general public.
